You're sure that 404 starts south of the DVP? I always thought that DVP was south of 401 and 404 is north of 401 that's what all the signs say
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontario_Highway_404#Route_description "Officially, the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) jurisdiction over the freeway begins as the opposing directions of travel diverge south of the Highway 401 interchange"
however no source is given
Geobase also shows the name changing here - to be precise, at southernmost merge/split points of 401 ramps here, so that if you're going northbound to 401 you are on DVP, going eastbound to southbound you go from 401 to DVP, going westbound to southbound you go from 401 to 404 to DVP.
We could probably check City of Toronto's GIS to see what they say too.
