Changeset When Comment

Not saying it wasn't there then, but today eastern bank was NOT here, there was construction and signs that Chase was coming soon. also didn't see sweet thyme.

I think this should be reverted, and a fixme="probably stream; needs field checking" tag, or some such added. It seems 99% likely that someone was intending to add a stream and made an error.

Why do you think it is ok to just delete, rather than comment on the original changeset and ask? The point of OSM is to work together to improve the map database (and the surrounding infrastructure), and just deleting doesn't really fit that.

Have you noticed that a way you added, almost certainly a stream, but not tagged, was deleted by another user?

Did you see a no trespassing sign, or merely a small "private way" tag above the street name? In Massachusetts, "private ways" have an easement to the public, the same as "public ways". It is merely that maintenance responsibility differs. L3 parcels shows this as subject to a road easement -- which would have been necessary to obtain planning permission. So I think this private tagging is wrong and should be removed.

Actually, looks like OSM matches MassGIS so surely this was wrongstanding. Sorry for commenting before checking and nevermind. (I should go check but it has nothing to do with your changes.)

Garner Road geometry looks off now, less wiggly than it seems, and not following L3 parcels. I have not figured out if updated in this changeset or not.

Please be careful editing trail geometry in Stow. I have been surveying many of them with RTK GNSS and think my data is good to better than 1 m. I try to put that in the changeset comments. (I am not saying you mis-edited anything here; some of them I have not done and those could use improvement. Just that Strava and phone gps is a much lower quality data source than RTK.)

Certainly the tagging for walgreens could be improved. I'm not really local (same county, not near), so I was really focused on correcting the map data that said there wasn't a pharmacy. You've edited, and I'm guessing you are more local, so of course you should feel free to add more tags.

What do you mean "'confirming my edit of closing riteaid"? There was a merger/acquisition and it's normal for stores to get rebranded. But perhaps it was announced that the location was permanently closed and then later they changed their mind.

152885791 10 months ago

You marked a rite aid closed, but the walgreen's website says it is operating today. Can you explain why you think there is no pharmacy? Have you been there? A note is open that says it has been renamed as walgreen's: note/4048634.

I'm going to retag as walgreen's, operating, but happy to discuss if you think reality is different.

At the end of Larkin Road, it looks to me like the address and =house is on a barn-type structure and the likely house is NNE. I'd just change it if from import, but it looks like you did this on purpose. I am curious what you think now, with 2023 imagery.

ok, will leave it then. You will notice that I did extend it down the side of the building (#15) to the walkway in front. I was able to walk (easily) from the school parking lot to the parking lot by Maynard Veterinary. I also shorted the emergency way because it is physically blocked, and added a path because you can obviously walk to it (checked by seeing, not actually walked).

I walked this today, and I didn't really study your drawn trace first, but it felt straightish to me compared to how it looks on the map. ok to straighten, or do you really think it has a semi-circular jog right as you go from school to maynard crossing?

If you think you can resolve it on imagery, and fair point about the line, that's totally fine. You might also note the specific surface as while paved is ok, it's broad. Most roads here are "surface=asphalt". At the risk of sending you down a different rabbit hole, StreetComplete is interesting (android app, perhaps also iOS but idk).

I put in a note rather than editing because I was only able to see the end while driving (passengering - I try not to map and drive!) from Causeway street. I wonder if you are able to see the road well enough in imagery, or if you observed it on the ground, or somehing else?

Yes, I meant that. I will try to add fences if they exist, and I guess mixed-use industrial/commuting is just messy! I can't think of better tagging.

134467366 about 2 years ago

Thanks. I will go look sometime as i am in Stow, post storm issues, so please don't innconvenience yourself. sometimes changes are from paid armchair mappers and I am much more deferential in editing to other locals. What didn't make sense was that the shelter building was not obviously reachable from the platform. The ones on the platform seem totally right. Its the big one ese of the South Acton label.

134467366 over 2 years ago

Did you actually see the "building=roof" between the 21 Martin lot and the south platform? It doesn't make sense, and I didn't notice it while there, but I didn't know to look.

There is a place=locality node at the rotary. The name Maynard Crossing applies to the entire large area, but there are multiple landuses within it, and the name is not appropriate for some of them. Having a relation with a locality tag leads to 2 nominatim hits for what is essentially the same thing. By having just a node, this is similar to locality names at the main interesection of villages.

As I understand it, there is an easement to the public for recreation, and I'm pretty sure that's limited to foot/bicycle. There is car traffic, but those are people with permission to be at the airpark. There aren't any no trespassing signs, but permissive requires "owner is known to permit use" which is a much higher bar than "not posted".

I'm in the middle of adjusting tagging to make this clearer right now.
