Started working on putting houses into the map in Corinth. I have no idea how long this will take drawing them individually. It’s daunting tasks like this that makes me wish that building footprints derived from the aerial flights for the cities were in a creative common license.

I took a look at Corinth and see why you wrote your diary entry. In Massachusetts we imported from the state GIS all of the building outlines. I added three houses to your map, there must be thousands more to draw. You might take a look at JOSM and the building plug-in. It’s a big time saver. Good luck with your project.

It’s worth politely writing to them and asking if they’d openly license the data - I worked with the City of Geelong to great benefit :)

I’ve drawn more than 7k buildings by hand and added more than 1k adresses, so I know how you feel. JOSM takes some time to get used to but it’s a worth learning. In the past we have seen a lot of bad and good imports. Doing good imports isn’t as easy as it sounds. But asking the citiy for some data is allways great. You could use this data as a background as an indicator for where things might be missing. (Like the “Hausnummernauswertung” (house number analysis)[http://www.regio-osm.de/hausnummerauswertung/] You work looks good. Keep it up ;) Maybe try to spur you friends to help you. Or you could start a local mapping party.
Cheers and happy mapping ;)
