137570494 | over 1 year ago | Sorry for the delay in response; been busy. Looking at the available options, I am more inclined now for including the name and the tag name:signed=no. I guess if the renderer doesn't pick up on that tag, it's their problem. Meanwhile, in the unlikely event that I find myself with free time, I'll see if I can poke someone at the county sign shop about fixing this. I still find it weird that this is the only highway in the county that doesn't get signed. |

I think either way works; the data is there at least, so navigation software can use it. I'm inclined toward my method (which was unsigned_NAME, not unsigned_ref; I mistyped above) a bit more solely because I don't want to mislead someone into looking for a N 56th St sign (or N 56Th St, as Lancaster County is fond of doing...) that doesn't exist. Every time I drive it (and most recently was last Sunday), I check to see if the county has put up signs. Still nothing. I'm quite surprised because Lancaster County is usually pretty good about posting some sort of signage (even if they have some weird habits). Maybe the Google Data Center being built will give them a good kick in the pants to get moving? (Although that will probably become Lincoln's problem.) |
137570494 | over 1 year ago | So, funny story: it ISN'T ever signed as N 56th St north of the interstate. (I didn't believe it either at first.) There is no intersection signage anywhere north of the interstate; all crossroads are signed in the median and thus do not show N 56th St. This is made even stranger because S 12th St signs DO exist frequently along the old Cornhusker Hwy (US 77 south of Lincoln) and Rokeby Rd signs along the Werner Expwy (N 2). Matter of fact, one of the direction signs for N 56th St as one exits the interstate specifically points only south of the interstate. And OSM policy is that it must be signed. I went ahead and changed it to unsigned_ref, as I do think a few maps do call it that (not the first time GIS was wrong!). |
