Samson Donick spent his summers participating in Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball tournaments all around the United States for the Bay Area Warriors and Oakland Rebels AAU basketball programs, both of which are based in the Bay Area. The Bay Area Warriors are a non-profit organization with the mission of providing guidance and direction to young athletes as they go through their athletic careers.

At Redwood High School, Donick played point guard for the varsity basketball team from his sophomore through senior years, during which time he was a member of the team. During his senior season, he was such a standout player that he led the team in points, rebounds, and steals. In addition to being a candidate for the Cal-Hi Sports all-state team, he was selected to the Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) all-league squad not once, but twice. Donick was also selected for the all-tournament teams at the Russ Peterich Viking Tip-Off classic and the Rose City Classic events. Donick was not only the senior captain of the team but also the most valuable player on the team. In 2011, Samson Donick was a sophomore at Redwood, and he was also a member of the school’s varsity lacrosse team.
