Visapur Hiking Route

Posted by Saikat Maiti on 3 July 2017 in English (English). Last updated on 4 July 2017.

Visapur fort is a very famous place for hiking in monsoon. This fort was built by Balaji Viswanath. There is a possibility for hikers to miss the actual trail for this spot. Alt text There is a very tiny instruction for hikers to follow the path. After this left turn hikers need to follow the arrow sign to reach this beautiful spot. Previously this route was mapped by a straight path from top to bottom. I made some correction using GPS track. Alt text Alt text

I choose this place to map buildings. This place is in danger because of climate change. Alt text People are in vulnerable stage because of rapid climate change and changing nature of island morphology. Previously it is recorded that this island has 130 Sq. Km. of land but now it’s only 25 sq. km. This island is mainly famous for good quality of Rice and Betel leaf (পাণ). Alt text

# Update my Village Road with Mapillary

Posted by Saikat Maiti on 26 October 2016 in English (English). Last updated on 4 July 2017.

Today I am going to update my diary about the help of Mapillary photos to update my village roads. Because of canopy cover and poor resolution of Bing Imagery I missed these road before and now it’s on map. It’s a 10 minutes demo.

I got a task to collect sample for my ongoing project (Cartago, Colombia) and I found that it might be helpful for OSM mapper. In JOSM we can get many TMS, WMS service, also we can use very high resolution satellite image after processing. But here I’m mentioning about the very useful plugin for JOSM called PicLayer. Using this plugin we can import simple jpeg image and we can calibrate. After doing few adjustment of the image it is working superb and solve my problem. Any one can try this!
