I am going to update some beach locations in Maui, Hawaii and wanted to be able to upload street view style photos. Is this functionality possible and if so how?

Do you upload it to http://www.mapillary.com, then reference the image from that location to the map placement?

The app uploads the photos for you when you connect to WiFi. Then you can use the imagery to edit OSM.
I also use OsmAnd, great OSM App for adding POIs when your traveling

This is a diary entry. A better place to ask questions is over at http://help.openstreetmap.org In fact there’s a couple of questions on there already which may help: https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/1630/attaching-photos-to-nodes
…but it looks like mapillary needs adding as a new answer to those questions.

you can convert to GPX and use in JOSM using this website http://osm.lyrk.de/mapillary2JOSM/
But make sure you select a very small site, because you have a 1000 photos limit
