Egean sea

Posted by Krijn den Hollander on 10 February 2019 in English (English)

To all,

I want to make a wall sticker of te Egean sea as we do sail there very frequently. This has to be cut out on a EPS file. I only need difference between land and water. The problem is when blowing it up to 2 by 2 meters the details are gone. Is there anybody with a solution?

Hi there Krijn
I know almost nothing about this, so take my response with a dose of salt.

From some words at the bottom of this GitHub page I am confident that you will need to make use of nik2img.py (a Python script, I believe). There is also some outdated help here.

And, sadly, that is where my help runs out.

Bah! I forgot to say that these scripts all produce raster results. I have never seen any vector (EPS) results.

Maybe you can get data from http://openstreetmapdata.com/data and play with Qgis? Yves

I’d recommend using a GIS-software for this, since you want an EPS file. Use QGIS since it is free software, then download shapefiles from (for instance) Geofabrik.de . Load the shapefiles in QGIS, set up the styles you wish to have, then export a map to PDF or similar.
