Juliana Garofalo is a woman with a wide range of interests. She currently works as a medical assistant and is a student in a prestigious physician assistant program. Her hobbies and expertise extend beyond her professional life to include knitting, cooking, and outdoor activities such as fishing, paddleboarding, and birdwatching.
She is an active member of HawkWatch International and the Connecticut Audubon Society. She is keen on learning about wildlife and scarce birds in her home state of Connecticut and across the country.
Living in Norwalk, Connecticut, she is focused on her career in the medical field. She works as a medical assistant and is passionate about surgery, women’s health, dermatology, and her ultimate goal of becoming a physician assistant.
She believes that recent global events, like the COVID-19 pandemic, highlight the critical importance of the healthcare industry. With healthcare fields facing significant shortages due to increased demand for services and employee burnout, she hopes her contributions as a medical and future physician assistant will help improve patient care and support the healthcare system.
Outside of her career, she has many interests, particularly those that take her outdoors. She spends much of her free time birdwatching in the Connecticut wilderness with friends and fellow members of the Connecticut Audubon Society. She also enjoys paddleboarding and fishing in nearby waterways, which double as great birdwatching spots.
Her involvement with the Connecticut Audubon Society is a significant passion. She works with the state Society to protect birds and other wildlife. The Connecticut Audubon Society manages 21 wildlife sanctuaries covering over 3,300 acres. Beyond land protection, the organization educates more than 100,000 kids and adults each year, helping to preserve Connecticut’s natural beauty and diverse wildlife for future generations.
Additionally, she is committed to HawkWatch International, dedicating her time, money, and energy to the organization. HawkWatch focuses on conserving environments through monitoring, scientific research, and education, with a particular emphasis on raptors. Her involvement helps support the organization’s efforts to learn about and protect these magnificent birds and their habitats.
Garofalo has a variety of hobbies and skills. She enjoys spending time in the kitchen, especially baking. Some of her favorite things to make are sourdough bread and fresh pizzas, and she has installed an outdoor pizza oven at her home to perfect her pizza-making skills.
