On July 6, 2019 in Metro Manila, Philippines - we the Grab PH team hosted a mapathon at the Pantry Area 12F, Wilcon IT Hub, Makati City. There were over 55 participants from Grab, the academia, private institutions, etc. who joined and mapped areas in Angono and Binangonan, Rizal (https://tasks.hotosm.org/project/6126).
The task created was aimed to contribute to building footprints and roads on OSM. Mr. Eugene Villar (@seav) started the training sharing what is OSM, its history, and its current status in the Philippines. It was then followed by Mikko Tamura (@GrabPHMikko) teaching how to draw points, lines, areas on OSM. Lastly, Ms. Feye Andal (@feyeandal) oriented the participants on the HOT Tasking Manager. The best part of the mapathon was that the experienced OSM mappers as well as the intermediate OSM mappers joined the event to assist the new mappers to edit on OpenStreetMap. All-in-all, it was a successful event as as everyone learnt something new, mapped and also got some interesting goodies back home with them, thanks to the Grab team!
