Last weekend, I tried modelling San Francisco City Hall in S3DB. The public building has 100 years of glorious history. The diameter of the central dome is around 34 m and total height of the building is 93 m. From Wikipedia

The co-ordinates of the building is 37.77910°N/122.41937°W. Edited this model first through OSM Sandbox and copied all the geometries and tags to main OSM database. I used JOSM current version and Kendzi3D plugin to visualise locally.

I’d love to see many places in OpenStreetMap in 3D. If you have any questions, ping me @chtnha on twitter or OSM message.

This is pretty impressive, but I wonder which renderers support multiple balconies over many floors, in the same location, as in those in tower blocks in London?

Very cool output! How long does it take to model a building of this complexity?

@ika-chan! can you point me any links to blocks in London? I’d love to see their structures.

@planemad, As it was a weekend project, I dedicated merely 3-4 hours in modelling and understanding tags, relations, and rendering both in F4Map and OSMBuildings.

Looks great! I am very interested in learning about modeling 3D buildings @Chetan_Gowda

@ika-chan! Thanks for pointing. I looked for these buildings pictures, they are tall and good to map in 3D. One important thing missing is Mapillary coverage around them or Wikipedia pages.

@umbrek Thank you!

@ashleyannmathew amazing! Please look into Simple 3D buildings wiki to get an idea.

Hey, I recently 3D-mapped the curch of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. It was my first larger 3D building and it seemed not very hard to model it for me. I hope other people will also add 3D models to some important landmarks which are still flat on the maps. :) http://demo.f4map.com/#lat=41.8974814&lon=12.4983324&zoom=19&camera.theta=45.05&camera.phi=-115.268

That looks amazing @doktorpixel14. It’d be very nice to see the Church with roof or building colour.
