Is there a reason why this part of Queensferry road is set to highway=trunk instead of primary?
I spotted that too. I wonder if it should be trunk all the way from Crammond Brig to the junction with A902 – both of which are currently trunk.
Otherwise the A902 & A199 from Leith to Portobello should be downgraded, which might actually make more sense.
The wiki suggests "Use highway=trunk for high performance roads that don't meet the requirement for motorway." which doesn't sound like a road through town bordered by houses!
I think historically this might be because this route is/was (?) part of the UK Trunk road network, which has a slightly different meaning to OSM usage of highway=trunk
Well, Queensferry Road was changed from trunk to primary last month, see http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/358612595/history - but this small section was missed out. I want to change it to primary, but maybe need to decide on the status of the whole road so we don't need to change it back.
I agree it should probably be primary. I have sent a message to the talk-scotland list for comments. https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-scotland/2016-March/000132.html
Have changed this segment and others, as per agreement on talk-scotland.
Have left A90 west of Cramond Brig & A702 as trunk for now
