Hi, your mapping is inconsistent: you have shown a cycle path through the "barrier", but the barrier is tagged only foot=yes. Since it's on a cycle path would expect bicycle=yes, too.
But do we know it's a cycle path based on the little information you have?
Also I think it may be not a good idea to put these barriers in like this: your driver couldn't access, so the most we know is
motor_vehicle=no
Do you even know for sure that there is a barrier here? If so then barrier=yes can be justified, but not the cycle path: we don't know that cycles or foot passengers can or can't pass.
I see this type of edit quite often, and I suspect it's often wrong: see here for a very similar situation, based on information that also sounds very incomplete:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/2125271
I'm assuming you are part of an organised edit of some sort? Do you have a policy on this situation? Or do you even have a preset on your editor that puts these edits in like this?
Thanks in advance for further info.
Hi,
Thank you for reviewing our edit. We have begun categorizing barriers with cycle pathways based on patterns found in OS Open data based on suggestions provided by a few community members in the past.
We agree addition of barrier=yes would be the appropriate tagging in absence of overlays, as we do not have enough information to confirm if it can be accessed by cycles or foot passengers. Hence, I have made the necessary changes in the changeset # 137105918 and retained the barrier as per the obstruction seen in the aerial imageries.
We will update our internal sops and follow the appropriate editing practices for the future edits.
Regards,
Deepikja
I can confirm there is a barrier here. It's an odd bit of road that seems to have previously had a kind of priority system in place with a squeeze point. So it narrows down to one lane. Then later a cycle barrier was added with no motor vehicle signage.
I went for highway=service motor_vehicle=no with a cycle barrier in it. The intention of the barrier is top stop motor vehicles but also would cause cyclists to slow and possibly dismount.
Thanks, it's good to have eyeballs on it.
I've just added the choker to the node at the E end of your service road: changeset 139777482
Reopening this because I either have or will soon refer to it in forum posts, for other reasons (will DM you rather than clutter this note)
