Moin geozeisig!

Was hat Dich denn bewegt, weltweit aerodrome:type=military an die Militärplätze zu taggen? Gleiches gilt für die Segelflugplätze in Deutschland (https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/58396356). Das Tagging ist meiner Erkenntnis nach nie über den Proposal-Status hinausgekommen. Die Wikiseite https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:aerodrome:type wurde durch Dich editiert und danach hast Du losgelegt. Du hast leider die Tendenz, mit grossflächig angelegtem Massen-Tagging Fakten schaffen zu wollen. Dies ist nicht im Sinne eines Gemeinschaftsprojekts, denn die paar Regeln, die wir hier haben, beinhalten ein "vorher drüber sprechen". Falls dies irgendwo stattgefunden hat, ziehe ich die "Anklage" zurück. Vielleicht kannst Du mir diesbezüglich weiterhelfen...

Ich bewerte hier ausdrücklich nicht das Tagging selbst, sondern die Art und Weise, wie es zustande kommt.

Ich hatte geplant anzuregen das Symbol für aerodrome:type=regional / gliding zu ändern. Dazu muss aber das tagging erst mal einheitlich sein. Denn erst ab einer gewissen Größenordnung fangen die an darüber nachzudenken. Die Änderung ist eher formal, die Eigenschaften werden nicht geändert.
Ich kenne zZ kein Forum in dem man das ernsthaft diskutieren könnte.

Naja, für Diskussionen über bestimmte Tags gibt es die Tagging Mailingliste und wenn man die nicht kennt, kann man im sehr aktiven deutschen OSM Forum (https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewforum.php?id=14) nachfragen. Ich glaube, Du unterschätzt die Problematik. Ich finde es ja gut, dass Du Dir Gedanken machst, wie man Dinge sinnvoll verändern könnte. Das Problem ist aber Deine Herangehensweise: Du denkst Dir etwas aus, und machst es dann, ohne Dir Meinungen von anderen einzuholen. Das widerspricht zum einen den Prinzipien von OSM, es schafft falsche Anreize, in dem die Leute sehen, "ach, wenn das alles so getaggt ist, dann mache ich es auch so", und zum anderen verhindert es auch, dass andere Meinungen einfliessen. Bei letzterem könnte man feststellen, dass eine vermeintlich sinnvolle Änderung vielleicht doch nicht so sinnvoll ist. Wenn Du Dir z.B. einmal die verwendeten Tags auf Taginfo ansiehst (https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/aerodrome%3Atype), wirst Du feststellen, dass sich die einzelnen Values auf ganz unterschiedliche Gegebenheiten beziehen, die miteinander nichts zu tun haben. Ein Beispiel: ein Airport, der =civil ist, kann auch gleichzeitig =private sein. Auch gibt es private Segelflugplätze. Es werden hier Fragen der Nutzung und Fragen der Zugangsberechtigung durcheinander geworfen. Insofern ist das Tagging nicht konsistent und sollte keinesfalls in diesem Zustand als "Standard" defininiert werden.

Ich habe im Forum mal einen Thread eröffnet (https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?pid=696630), zu dem ich Dich gern einladen möchte. Vielleicht kann man gemeinsam eine Lösung finden.

This looks like a bit of an overzealous mechanical edit to me - https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/1042032811 is presumably https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Ballykelly and closed in 1971.
How much checking did you give the rest of the data?

I run a check due to request at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Talk:Key:aerodrome:type and I found that geozeisig removed at least 478 aerodrome tags since 2018-01-01.

List is at https://gist.github.com/matkoniecz/23bd62764cac4ed81984bb1f8af52dc8 and I am currently running second check that may catch some additional cases.

Note that this was apparently done to convince others that aerodrome tag has no support among mappers (see https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Talk:Key:aerodrome:type with "aerodrome is used 954 times" )

In case that somebody has no idea and considers this semi-automated removal of aerodrome tag as a mistake I recommend contacting DWG (I can help if someone has no idea how to do that)

And that kind of malicious mechanical edits is causing problems for people who instead of making useful tool-assisted edits must convince others that their plan is not some trickery.

I've reverted this in https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/555781495 - it was an obvious mechanical edit made without checking (see comment above about RAF Ballykelly)

Hello all!

Thanks for taking care of this. Also aerodrome:type=* had been added to hundreds of airports. This tag is far from being consistently defined and should also not be added as a mass edit. This had been reported to DWG and addressed on the forum with little to no concern, so I just let it go... @Andy: sorry, I did not find the time to reply to your email, but the amount of airports involved in different changesets is larger than anticipated initially.

And other variant of search - https://gist.github.com/matkoniecz/23bd62764cac4ed81984bb1f8af52dc8#file-better-log - found 514 removals.

"This had been reported to DWG and addressed on the forum with little to no concern" - maybe with clear evidence of mass scale it will go better? You can also mention that I volunteer for readding removed aerodrome tags (DWG probably has long queue of people that added copyright-violating stuff and geozeisig made changes easier to hide and harder to revert by splitting them across many tiny edits)
