Hello hltm, it is better to comment in a change set - I had a hard time understanding what you were referring to in your email without reference.

There are some theses by locals - unaccepted in scientific circles - that these structures in question might have been USED in prehistoric times. It is not even claimed - be it scientifically acceptable or not - that these structures have been ERECTED, let alone in the neolithicum and not possibly bronze age or even up to the middle ages. For the tagging in OSM, however, site_type=megalith is used to denote something erected in neothic times. This is not the case here.

Hello Jan,
that's exactly what I am saying: As you say, these are natural stones, of which some might have been modelled by (unknown) people. In contrast, a megalithic site in Open Street Map is a) erected b) by clearly neolithic people, in Europe of the Funnelbeaker culture. It needs to be tagged just as even www.goetterhand.de describes the structures - rock formations.

These are visibly ERECTED, not only modelled. See the photos.

It seems we are not getting further here. On those pictures, as it says in the very literature about those sites, you see the classic spheroidal weathering of the type of bedrock you have in the area. The claim of the local gentlemen and the local tourism lobby is that these weathered rocks have been USED. Nobody except implicitly you has even claimed they were transported from somewhere else and erected, I am not aware that any of the locals even claimed that these were megalithic, and certainly no archeologist has ever said so. Your classification as Megalithic stands against the scientific community and also against the (highly disputed) theses of goetterhand.de and the tourism office.
