Hi badenk, I noticed that this portion of MEX 180D was changed to construction (https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/685975057, https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/201040114) and that “oneway=yes” was changed to “oneway=no” on some of the remaining motorway segments. Looking at the current modeling, it appears that drivers are unable to travel east on MEX 180D past here (https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/3195940963 ). The remaining oneways in this area (https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/884875389) and around here (https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/33882135) are also preventing drivers from traveling east. Do you know if these portions of MEX 180D are open for both westbound and eastbound traffic and if there are additional construction updates that can be made here? Thank you! aaronq227
Hi Aaron: What is happening, is the entire relevant toll highway is being converted by the operator to incorporate Tren Maya.
Between Valladolid and Cancun, the north lane of the existing 4 lane cuota is being converted to 4 lanes with a concrete divider. The south lane is then being converted to host the Tren Maya, which will be double tracked and electrified. ICA is the cuota concessionaire and also the contractor for the conversion and railway section, so it should expedite the process.
I have currently left out the interchanges, which will have enhanced complexity, until relevant imagery details the new routes. I imagine that temporary detours allow bi-directional traffic flow.

Interesting Development
While just checking the current situation on Sentinel2, I noticed that there was construction activity on 180D to the west from Valladolid, similar to the section between Valladolid and Cancun. This new routing was confirmed by:

So, I take it the jungle train concept to get near Chichen Itza has been abandoned.
Thank you Baden for taking another look at the area and providing the informative context about the construction here! That is interesting about the apparent change of plan for the Chichen Itza portion. I’ll keep an eye out for construction updates in this area as well.
Thanks, aaronq227
