Hi. Why have you changed many paths to bicycle=no? for example way 304507133 I rode that path today and didn't see any no bicycle signs. Perhaps you could also give more detailed comments to help others understand why you have made changes
In case you weren’t aware, Victorian roads rules state that riding not a footpath is not permitted. Hence there does not need to be a sign to indicate no bikes.
The only exception apply to shared paths (bike and pedestrians) which are signed for use by bikes.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I doubt that means that all paths are footpaths unless otherwise signed. I am sure the Birdsland paths are not footpaths. I presume that many of the retaggings are from aerial images alone, they span a distance greater than the 5km allowed under Covid. Please give information in changeset comments. It is difficult for us to assess the logic of your changes, the original mapper of a feature presumably physically observed the feature and decided the tags, if you want to change them, possibly solely on the evidence of a aerial image, you need to give information that supports your case. If you took a Mapillary photo you could refer to it in the changeset comments. Its best not to make wholesale changes to how stuff is being mapped without discussing with the community.
For the moment, if changing tagging re cycleway footpath path bike yes no designated can you please give a changeset comment for each way that explains what your evidence and logic is.
Hi. On talk-au on October 5 I gave notice that I intend to revert this changeset if I don't hear from you. The DWG has ruled on bicycle tagging, see https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-au/2021-October/015093.html I would prefer that you were involved in the reversion.
Acknowledge. Happy to revert changes myself but unsure how to check what ways were modified to revert.
Hi, the easiest way I know is to install Josm editor https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JOSM and its reverter plugin. If there have been no edits of those nodes since, its a single click and the whole changeset is reverted. Its a bit more complicated if changes have been made since. Its worth the time learning Josm because it is a more powerful editor than Id. If you need more help, ask me or on the talk-au list.
Hi. I have been waiting for you to fix this changeset since October 5. You continue to retag about bicycles when it is more important that you fix previous errors. It is better that you are involved, otherwise your positive contributions will get lost. I am getting close to reverting this changeset.
Happy for you to revert the changeset. I tried to install JOSM but it’s not signed for the latest Mac OSX so won’t let me install it.
Thanks. I'm on Windows not Mac, I'll ask about it on talk_au
Hi, I had been talking reverting starting here, your #617 but considering advice on talk_au maybe its better to start at #641 and continue in reverse date order while there is a distinct benefit
