240+ entries ago, I made an entry about my not-so-good mapping experience. Since then, I never came back to Los Baños until this morning. After mapping a portion of the area, I decided to go to the Barangay Hall to check if someone tried to file a complaint against me (on that day). Thankfully, no one did.

I managed to talk to an official, and I asked him if my actions on that fateful day (mapping housenumbers without the malicious intent of "invading someone's privacy" or planning a heist) could have sent me into various kinds of trouble. According to him, probably not, since I'm just documenting housenumbers. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm now glad that this problem is solved, more or less. But this should serve as a warning for those who'll try to map housenumbers, myself included. There are people out there who are paranoid when it comes to privacy.

In the most countries, taking a picture of a biulding is allowed by law. In Germany it is § 59 Urheberrechtsgesetz (German Copyright Act), called "Panoramafreiheit". The Fereral Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof) confirmed this right by his decision Az.: I ZR 54/87 (Verwertung der Fotografie eines Privathauses - Friesenhaus).

I'm talking about housenumber documentation paranoia, not Panoramafreiheit.

I need a photo of the house or a part of it to do get the housenumber. So I'm talking about housenumber documentation too - not the paranoia as a social phenomenon, but about the law you can talk with paranoic people about. And with a small memo with some clauses it is propably possible to cool them down...

Sorry for the late reply.

I don't usually document housenumbers using a camera.

Ah So you already did try this. I am actually planning to do this here in Lucena but it’s quite hard to know the housenumber already especially for main roads.
