Bilingual street names for Slovenia

Posted by Zeno Kugy on 5 January 2014 in English (English)

A useful list if someone want to map name:hu for bilingual towns in Slovenia:

http://e-prostor.gov.si/fileadmin/BREZPLACNI_POD/RPE/UL_S.txt

It contains the official list of all street names from Slovenia.

I have already performed the part concerning name:it, since that was an area I knew and/or where I could perform surveys, but name:hu is still incomplete. This was also a good opportunity to fix wrong names or map unmapped roads.

Lession learnt: don't rely only on Google Maps when checking street names: sometimes they were inconsistent with surveys and geopedia.si

Location: Kolodvorska ulica, Lendava, Pomurska, Eastern Slovenia, 9220, Slovenia

"don't rely only on Google Maps when checking street names"

Don't rely ever on Google Maps when checking street names. Don't even think about using it. It's a copyrighted source, and OSM contributors aren't allowed to use it - that's part of the contributor agreement when you create your account.

You know the "Stra├čenlistenauswertung" (analysis of streets)? There are also official sources of street names which are analyzed which data is missing in osm. Perhaps the maintainer is interested in your mentioned source or gives you his software. Have fun! http://regio-osm.de/listofstreets/data.html Example for Frankfurt: http://regio-osm.de/listofstreets/Bundesrepublik+Deutschland/Hessen/Darmstadt/Frankfurt+am+Main.html

Isn't "hu" the abbreviation for "Hungarian"?

Yes, there are some area of Slovenia with bilinguism. In that file you can see some streets which have a name also in Hungarian or Italian.
