Mapping Marathon around the World Soccer Cup stadiums this Saturday May 31st

Posted by ThierryAJEAN on 30 May 2014 in Brazilian Portuguese (Português do Brasil)

The Brazilian OSM community is organizing, tomorrow Saturday 8 am (Brazil time) a Mapping Marathon, in order to improve the map around the stadiums of the World Soccer cup.

It would be great to have OSM members of the whole world helping us for this effort. It would still be better to be able to say to newspapers that people from the whole world are helping.

Here is our wiki page for the Mapatona (Map Marathon) http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mapatona

In it you have the link to all the places of the stadiums: Click on the link for each stadium (estádio) and start editing taking into account Bing iimagery which was just updated for Brazil.

On JOSM editing tool, there is a new layer which has been available for only a few weeks, called “IBGE setores urbanos”, (IBGE = Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics). This layer shows in transparency the names of the streets. This is government, free public data.

Thank you for your help.
