Licence redaction ready to begin

Posted by Richard on 10 July 2012 in English (English)

For those who don't follow the mailing lists or the OSMF blog, a heads-up: the licence redaction will begin this week. Read full details here. There will be no interruption to mapping but you should be aware that there might be changes in your area.

Glad that this is finally happening! While we will lose some data, we will be able to stop worrying about it and move on. We will have to spend time re-adding things, but hopefully that won't be a big deal.

Looking at the OSM Inspector, some cities still look bad, but it's best to just be optimistic about all this. At least my city (Seattle, WA) will look fine!

FYI the redaction bot's user name is OSMF Redaction Account.
