Powerline from Safford, AZ toward Duncan

Posted by Richard Hufford on 20 October 2013 in English (English)

I added a powerline that starts just south of Safford, AZ and runs toward Duncan, AZ. From what I read, this line is called a subtransmission line, so I labeled it a power=minor_line. Currently, I am concentrating on finding poles that are endpoints to segments of the line and I hope to fill in the rest of the poles, eventually.

I am also adding the access road that runs under the line. I find it difficult to add nodes to the road (using JOSM) without accidentally connecting the road to the power line.

I've also noticed that the area around South Barney Lane has changed considerably. Currently, there is a road named Emory Road on the map, but I can't find it. There is a road named Busby Drive that has some similar points to Emory Road, so I guess I'll put Emory Road as its old_name. In the next several days, I'll make some corrections to the area.

When I started mapping the area earlier this year, I was worried that I'd run out of things to do, but every time I add a feature to the map, I find plenty of other features that need mapping!

Location: Haekel Road, Tanque, Graham County, Arizona, United States of America

In JOSM "add Mode", holding the "Ctrl" key prevents snapping onto existing ways and nodes when you click to add a new node. For other shortcuts see http://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Shortcuts

Also you can hide the power line with JOSM filters. http://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Help/Dialog/Filter

Thank you. I'll check that out too. I will probably update the map over the weekend.
