Route 66

Posted by James Tait on 19 June 2009 in English.

No, not THAT Route 66! Derby Regional Cycle Network Route 66, the Derby Ringway. Following a very enjoyable cycle ride along NCN 54 last weekend, I decided to try and improve some of the cycle route coverage on OSM, and Route 66 is along my school run so it was the obvious choice. I've had to take some detours to fill in some of the joins, but the Mickleover/Littleover/Heatherton part of it all joins up now.

Location: Mickleover, Derby, England, DE3 9BE, United Kingdom

Looks good! More of Route 54 to the north next time, maybe?

I'm relieved to see that they've fixed the silly situation of Derby having two Route 66s (the other one out to Breadsall is now National Route 672, I think). Must go and tackle some of Route 67 up the Erewash Canal some time...

I wish you could differentiate ncn routes from rcn routes just by the number. I've been mapping ncn_66 recently, and whilst riding it keep bursting into song

(It goes up through Bierly, down to West Bowling, Bradford City looks oh so pretty...)

Richard, are you still based in Charlbury? Turns out I'm going to be just down the road in Eynsham next weekend (26th-28th). Naturally I'm using OSM data to plot my route. ;)
