OpenStreetMap

I could do with a helping hand

Posted by GMHeyes on 22 March 2012 in English (English)

I want to contribute as much as possible to OSM but at the moment I dont know quite enough about the editing to get things looking exactly how I want them. The idea I have is to work with someone who can add my work to the map. I will do the tracing with my GPSr and then describe to whoever what it is I have traced, the end result would be a far greater detailed map. Ultimately I would like someone to show me how to edit properly so I can do it all myself. Anyone interested?

Have you tried looking through the videos that people have made to describe how to use OpenStreetMap? Try looking through some of these videos. Emacsen's videos near the top of the page are particularly helpful.

If you have watched the videos, I'm willing to help via video chat or something similar.

Osm is made to be editable by everyone.

Just contact me via pm if you want.

Another option is to see if there is a meet-up in your area. These are mostly in Germany and the UK as those have the most established communities at the moment.

Or you can set your location in your account profile and see other users nearby; it is often worth getting in touch with them anyway.

Craig - Thanks for your reply, how do I get to know if there is a meet in my area? I have looked at the members who live near me and the last time anyone did any editing was 9 months ago!!!
