The area I now live in is a bit short of detail, I enjoyed editing around my previous address, so last night I thought I would start adding features around my new home. the aim is to start locally and then moving around my home town! I made half a dozen or so edits, which included shops, a path, removed a road that no longer exists, grassed areas and terraced housing. None of the above is yet to appear on the map, I have checked on my iPad, PC and mobile phone. I used the id (In browser editor)

I have tried quite a few of the various maps available for use on my Garmin device, as of yet I have been unable to find one that looks exactly the same as the basemap! is there one available for the uk?
Within the last few days I have mapped a golf course and added a veterinary surgery. As you zoom out of the map the golf course disappears, while other golf courses are still visible! Also the poi I added is not appearing at any level. Why?
Would anyone be interested in developing Topo type map of the british isles aimed primarily at hikers with me? A lot of the maps out there are aimed at motorists and cyclists and I think one fine tuned primarily for hiking would create a lot of interest! My goal is to set up a website and enable users to download the map for Garmin hand held units and also to be able to install the map for use in Basecamp and Mapsource!
Is anyone else editing in the Greater Manchester area? South Manchester/North Cheshire particularly
I want to add a residential road, it comes off the main road and then splits left and right to form a T at the end, how do I split it at the end?
What do we tag these as?
I want to contribute as much as possible to OSM but at the moment I dont know quite enough about the editing to get things looking exactly how I want them. The idea I have is to work with someone who can add my work to the map. I will do the tracing with my GPSr and then describe to whoever what it is I have traced, the end result would be a far greater detailed map. Ultimately I would like someone to show me how to edit properly so I can do it all myself. Anyone interested?
I read earlier on in someones diary that the uk is about to lose a swathe of data due to licence changes? Does this mean that quite a lot of peoples hard work is about to vanish? Does that mean we are only going to get to a certain point and then thats it?
I am thinking of doing some video tutorials on youtube, obviously they will only show the basics to begin with but if it helps newcomers like myself then I dont mind.
Done a bit more editing this week, certain aspects are getting a little bit easier, and thats a step in the right direction! Does anyone have a link to a step by step guide to putting certain areas of the map on my Garmin device? I know you can download the .img files already done but want to be able to do them myself, also I only need a small portion of the map as I use it mainly for hiking and fishing!
I find this very interesting, it's all a bit daunting at the moment but I'm sure given time that I will soon be contributing on a regular basis!
Approximately 1 mile away from my home is Gatley Carrs, a small nature reserve open to the public. At the moment it is lacking in detail, my aim over the next few weeks is to provide as much detail as possible about the area. The idea being it will also be a good learning curve :)
I have only just joined, to be honest I didnt know it existed until a couple of days ago, I heard about it via a GPS forum, it is fantastic and I am really impressed. I have changed a couple of local POI and added a missing road so far, as I get out and about with my GPSr I will be adding more to the map!
