Am gestrigen Sonntag habe ich zusammen mit einer Handvoll weiteren Mappern aus der Dortmunder OSM-Gemeinde jede Menge Hausnummern im Stadtteil Dorstfeld erfasst (in dieser Gegend: http://osm.org/go/0GMwLhFl ).
Leider waren trotz diverser Aufrufe nicht mehr Leute erschienen, so dass das wir wohl nicht ganz geschafft haben, den Stadtteil komplett mit Hausnummern zu versehen. Aber so 75% dürften wir locker geschafft haben - von vorher geschätzten 10%. Das ist doch ganz ordentlich. :)
Und die bestellte Presse (Ruhr-Nachrichten) war auch da!

Damit Dortmund noch genauer in OSM abgebildet wird, bitte ich alle, die etwas Zeit haben, doch anhand der hochgenauen Luftbilder weitere Gebäude einzuzeichnen. Wie das geht, steht im Wiki unter http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/DE:Luftbilder_aus_Dortmund . Das kann jeder tun, dafür muss man nicht vor Ort sein! Die Luftbilder sind nur noch bis Ende Juni verfügbar, also müssen wir uns ranhalten! :)

Last Sunday,

we had the first meeting of the local mappers. It was very nice to meet some of the people behind the names I only read before on mailing lists.
And we in fact did some constructive discussion and planning there... I am optimistic that we can coordinate things a little more in the future, so the Dortmund map will get even better (well, to be honest, it is far from perfect in its current state).
I'm looking forward to the next meet and perhaps to mapping parties and so on...

Last week, I decided to put my GPS to another good use and start mapping. Before that, I only occasionally corrected some errors in the map. After this week's Mapnik rendering run, the results are now visible for the "standard user" as well. I'm surprised to see that Osmarender uses more tags: access restrictions are not visible in Mapnik. :( But well, the area around my home is now somewhat closer to being completely mapped. :)

I'm surprised how easy it is to map, at least with basic features. JOSM may not be really ergonomic, but it's easier to use than I initially feared.
And I really need a voice recorder - they are far more practical to speak into than a cell phone, plus using it while driving is legal. ;)
