I began editing OpenStreetMap in 2012 after purchasing my first Garmin navigation device and realizing that OpenStreetMap was the basis for the free maps that can be imported to these devices. After seeing so many deficiencies and lack of detail in the forests tracks around Ballarat where I do most of my hiking I decided to start improving the map. One of the first routes that I hiked was what is now the Goldfields Track between Buninyong and Daylesford. This route did not exist on OSM back then, It’s now 2022 and I have clocked up more than 5,500 edits. There is always room for improvement
