Hiya. Glad to see you talking such an interest in OSM map in Ballina!
This note is useful as you gave us the name of the street which we can't get from the satellite imagery.
However, as you are so interested in Ballina, may I ask that you register on OSM? We can then distinguish between your notes and some other random anonymous user. When you register you'll also be able to make simple edits your self when you feel ready.
Also notes like 'A lot of green fields in the surrounding area.' don't add a lot of value - we can see that in the satellite imagery that we can use for editing. Thanks!
Nephin View name added to street
After looking at http://www.openstreetmap.org/note/201454 it appear you got the name from streetview. You can't use any copyrighted sources in OSM/
Was "Nephin View" obatined from your local knowledge or from looking at google maps/streetview? iF so we'll have to remove it from OSM
I got the name from Google Maps, yes. I prefer to highlight areas that need improvements and leave it to the professionals here. Just doing it to make this map of Ballina as detailed as possible. And maybe it will be useful for other maps that use OSM as their source.
Ok, sorry but I'll have to remove the name.
I hope this doesn't discourage you but the 'Open' part in OSM means all data has to be acquired without using any other closed or copyrighted data sources. You have to get the information from observing it 'on the ground' or from old sources that are no longer in copyright.
